Validation Engineer

As a Validation Engineer at Volkswagen of America, I lead the design and execution of comprehensive validation strategies for OTA (Over-the-Air) software update pipelines across multiple vehicle control modules. My work ensures that every software update deployed to production vehicles is safe, reliable, and meets the strictest automotive quality standards.

I collaborate with cross-functional teams โ€” software developers, system architects, and hardware engineers โ€” to define acceptance criteria, trace requirements, and validate every layer of the update stack from the cloud delivery mechanism down to the target ECU.

  • Designed and executed bench testing protocols for OTA software update pipelines across multiple ECU modules, ensuring zero critical defects reach production vehicles.
  • Built and maintained hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments to simulate real-world vehicle conditions for embedded software verification.
  • Performed electrical hardware validation and signal-level debugging to isolate software-hardware integration failures.
  • Authored detailed test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices from system-level requirements to individual test steps.
  • Tracked, triaged, and documented defects through their full lifecycle โ€” from root cause analysis through re-validation and closure.
  • Produced release-ready test reports and validation summaries for internal stakeholders and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Contributed to continuous process improvement, reducing average validation cycle time through reusable test script libraries.
